Grant Cox Mission Update
Hey Family! (7/14/12)
We made it! We're alive! We're in Danshui, which is, to my understanding, kind of a suburb of Taipei. It's crazy different. But it's cool!
It's crazy hot here. Mom, you would love it. Everyone else in the family would feel like me right now. Overwhelmed. Cause it's really hot.
Today was my first full day here. I woke up at 6am because of my weird sleep schedule getting off the plane. It's about 8pm now, and I am dead tired, so I'll send a longer update later.
Love ya, bye!
Grant
Hey, (7/15/12)
We just got done with our first gig. It was KILLER! We were at this place called Fisherman's Wharf. Google it, maybe it's a big deal.. I don't know. There were a lot of people there that stayed and watched. This performance looked like this: my band played with a couple breaks for dances and the sharing of testimonies, the main dance, the last band with a couple dances and testimonies in it. It was a big, open air, outdoor venue. The weather was so nice! Complete cloud cover, a nice breeze, so good...
Everything we do, we talk about what God's doing, we pray about it, we pray into problems. I'm learning so much and I'm so encouraged here
If you guys want stuff to pray for, I got a TON of stuff for you:
Health problems with the team. These include: my wrist, Luke's ear and elbows, Christa's back, Hannah's knee, Slater's jaw...
I know you won't know who most of these people are, but yeah, it's a distraction, and if you guys want specific stuff to pray for, those are some.
Hannah has been burden bearing for me again. My wrist has been really killing me, and she's felt it. Christa, one of the dancers, hurt her back dancing just before we left Montana. She had to skip most of the dances she's a part of, which is such a downer. It's just lame. My buddy Matt prayed for Christa's back, and now he's burden bearing for her. Crazy. He can feel her pain. He was freaking out because he couldn't really walk! RIDICULOUS! But it's keeping us praying for each other. It's keeping us close, and when God heals all this stuff, people will see that through prayer, crazy stuff can happen!
I'm trying to hurry this up because people are waiting to use this laptop, so this was very rushed and not proof-read. So.. I hope this makes sense. Love you and miss you guys!
Grant

Update From Grant Cox
Here is the Grant Cox YWAM update. He is currently in Montana and leaves for Taipei, Taiwan on Thursday, July 12.
Hey! Here's a quick rundown of everything that's been going on.
There are 2 summer programs going on right now: MSOS (Musicians' Summer of Service) and SOD (Summer of Dance). There's usually a Summer of Sports, but there wasn't enough students who applied for it this year to do it. Both the dancers and the musicians do worship and lectures in the morning together. There are 14 musicians and 9 dancers in the Summer of Service this year, and we spend a lot of time mixed together so I'm not just with the musicians all the time. It's really cool, and we get to hangout with a lot more people that way.
Monday through Friday consists of a few things. Every morning we have worship together for about an hour. Then we have lectures for about an hour and a half. And then we have band practice later in the day. Worship and lectures are with both the musicians and the dancers, and then we split for band practice and dance practice.
There are 2 bands: 1 more of a rock band, and the other is more of a folk/pop band. I'm playing in the rock band, doing cover tunes that consist of songs from Switchfoot, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Muse, and others.
The dance team has put together a hip-hop dance, along with some modern dance pieces to take on their outreach.
What's really cool about it is that we will do most of our outreach together, dancers and musicians. Our contacts in Taiwan have already gotten us a few places to play. Some of those include schools, streets, and even a little stage that's in the middle of a huge train or tram station. I don't remember exactly, but there will be lots of people in and out seeing us.
Both the bands and the dancers are performing songs that are both Christian and non-Christian, which is rad. So many more people will stay and watch if they hear a cover tune of a song they've heard, or see people dancing to a hit song on the radio.
Thank you so much FFC for getting me here! I'm learning so much, I'm making awesome friends, I'm growing in my relationship with God, learning more about the Holy Spirit, praying for people, witnessing some crazy stuff, seeing amazing things happen, and I'm still in the Middle-of-Nowhere Montana. I expect HUGE things to happen in Taiwan. It's not gonna be some little trip I get to tell about just because I traveled overseas and got to perform. God is gonna do big things. I already know it. I'm expecting it. We're all praying for it, and we know some crazy things are gonna happen.
If you could keep us in your prayers, that would be awesome! We need prayer for travel safety. We're leaving Thursday in 3 different groups because it was cheaper to get tickets that way. So prayer for traveling would be awesome.
And seriously, if you guys could pray for ridiculous, out-of-this-world, crazy things for God to do, that would be fantastic! I'm going, and we've been praying for it so much that I'm expecting God to use us to physically heal people. If you could pray for clarity in knowing how to pray for someone or what to say to someone, please do! And please, pray with boldness! If we stopped with just praying for what we think God might do, our expectations would be extremely low. But they're not. We are excited to see what God does, and privileged that God is gonna use us however he wants!
I love and miss everybody back at home! I miss my branches! Thank you again so much for getting me here! I definitely wouldn't be here without you and your support! Sorry for not getting you more updates than this. I've been so busy, my days are jam packed.
Love ya, miss ya, and I'll hopefully send you a more in depth update sometime soon!
-Grant
